"...want to thank you all for playing at our wedding and for making it the rousing success that it was! Not being able to talk to you in person but communicating entirely by phone and email from California as we did, it was amazing how easily you handled the affair. From dealing with the caterers (and even the party-rental company!), playing our requests and co-ordinating the sequence of events, you made it all come off flawlessly. And of course the music sounded great!" Kurt and Margarette Wiemann, Lake Forest, Ca

Hard to believe with two feet (or more?) of snow on the ground that spring is only a few weeks away. (Yes....really!!) As long and cold as the winter was, there have been some bright moments though. One of them was the WHUD Valentines Dinner Dance at the Doubletree in Tarrytown. The turn-out was equal to last years, the dance-floor just as crowded and everyone was partying. Our thanks to Deanna, Mike & Casey and everyone else at WHUD for inviting us and making it a smashing success! We'll be performing for the Liberty Fire Department the first week in March. After that it's our return to the Cafe International @ the Ramada, Newburgh. In April we'll be performing for the Support Connection and the Cornwall Yacht Club. And be sure to catch us at Teddy's @ the Mount Kisco Holiday Inn, Saturday, 4/24 where we'll be hooking up with the Meet-up groups. So shovel out.....and we'll see you on the dancefloor!

This will be our 3rd consecutive year and if it's anything like the previous two years (there were over 500 guests last year!) it will be standing-room only. Click on WHUD's link at the bottom of this page for further info. See you on the dance-floor!

It took a while but.....SPRING IS HERE! It was our distinct pleasure to donate our services for Support Connections 12th Annual Gala held at the Colonial Terrace, and their work with women with breast and ovarian cancer. Glad to hear it was a "great success". We were also happy to play for Lucia's 50th birthday held at Avalon East, New Rochelle. Glad to see all her friends from the Meet-up Groups were there as well. Our thanks to the Cornwall Yacht Club for asking us to perform for the 2009 Commodore's Ball held at Herbert Hall, West Point. We had a great time and appreciate the positive feedback we received from all the guests. And once again we had a blast playing for the West Point Math Department's Farewell Bash. Our thanks to Tom Meyer for the invite. Our friend Steve Horton joined us throughout the night on sax and guitar. Loughran's Caterers did an outstanding job providing the food and drink. And congratulations to all the talented "American Idol" contestants! Next up is the Ramada in Newburgh, Saturday, 5/23. And we'll also be at the Ramada twice in June (the horns will be with us for the 6/13 gig). Enjoy the weather, and we'll see ya on the dance floor!

First up we'd like to thank the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, and Dianna Penna for inviting us to play again for their annual dinner dance. A larger crowd than we've seen in the past and (almost) everyone was dancing! The response we received was greatly appreciated. And congratulations to John Federspiel for receiving the award for business person of the year. And of course thanks to the Colonial Terrace and the Drogy's, Allen, Sheila & Leon for their usual excellent catering. The WHUD 2009 Valentines Day party was simply....amazing! Sold out for weeks, the 500 plus guests who were lucky enough to get tickets were definitely in a dancing mood. It seemed at times as though all 500 were on the dance floor....and even in the hallways! Thanks to Deanna Miller, Mike & Kasey and the whole WHUD crew for asking us to play a second year. We look forward to doing it again!
In three weeks we'll be at Sciortino's in Brewster for another "Singles Going Wild" party. Should be a fun time as usual so check out their website (at the bottom of our home page) if your interested. We'll be back at the Colonial Terrace the next day, Saturday, 3/7 for the Lakeland Education Federation Dinner Dance. Also in March we'll be at the Ramada Inn, Newburgh twice and up to Monticello as well. We'll also be back at the Colonial Terrace on Saturday, 4/4 to perform for the Support Connection's 12th Annual Gala Silent Auction. This is a support group for women with breast and ovarian cancer. If your interested you can contact them at 914-962-6402 or visit their website: http://www.supportconnection.org/ A worthy cause that we're proud to be a part of. After that........it's springtime!!!
| Subject: | January 2009 Update | | Posted: | 01/30/09 at 11:26PM |
Here's hoping everyone's 2009 is a healthy and prosperous one in spite of the economy. It's cold and gray now, but we have a promising new president and spring is just around the corner! Our thanks to Damara & Steve Gutnick for inviting us to play for her Mom, Jaffa's 70th birthday party. We enjoyed the company of your friends and family and hope to see you at one of our gigs! It was our distinct pleasure and honor to play for the Hurleyville Fire Department's 50th Anniversary Installation Dinner held in Neversink, N.Y. We didn't let a mere 10 inches of snow deter us from making the trip! Our thanks to Chief Jim Kaufman for the invitation and everyone involved for working with us. It was a really well coordinated event that we were happy to be a part of. We'll be at the Ramada again Saturday, 1/31 and Friday 2/13. Mark your calendars (or just check ours!)....we'll be playing for the WHUD radio station's Valentines Day Party again this year, on Saturday, 2/14 at the newly renovated Doubletree Hotel in Tarrytown. Last years event was one of the best we performed. The crowd was fantastic, the dance floor was full all night and the food was great. It was booked up so make your reservations early! You can get to WHUD's website by clicking on their link at the bottom of this page. Hope to see you in the crowd!
| Subject: | December Update | | Posted: | 11/30/08 at 01:40PM |
Jeezzzz....it's December already?! Thanksgiving's gone so Christmas and Hanukkah can't be far behind. Shopping, dinners, kids, family....whew! We're all going to need a vacation when it's over. Oh, and then it's New Years!!! Well if you don't have the opportunity to get away from it all, we have the perfect remedy....Big Kahuna! In between private parties (and ski trips!) we'll be playing at the Ramada Inn, Newburgh, twice in December and twice in January. So come out and help support live music (not the dead kind, although I wouldn't mind doing a little Casey Jones.) We a had blast playing at Teddy's, Mount Kisco this weekend. A Big Kahuna thank you to Jose and the "Singles Going Wild" groups for working off the turkey dinner and filling the dance floor all night. Also thanks to Clement, Dave and D.J. for working with us and providing a classy venue. And a special shout-out to all our friends and family who came out; the Pedigree Ski Shop and Cardiovascular Associates contingents, Gay and Wilma, John & Violet and John & Beverly, Kim Solo who teased us with a few bars of "I Will Survive" and John Rivard who made it all happen. See ya on the dance floor!

Our new song clips are up and running! Hope you enjoy listening to them as much as we did recording them. A Big Kahuna shout-out to John at Mind Magic Studios for your excellent production/post-production work. It was a real pleasure working with you and we hope to be using your services again in the near future. We'll be sure to recommend you to other musicians as well. Just a reminder.....We're up to Monticello this weekend (Friday & Saturday, 11/21 & 11/22). The following week we'll be at Teddy's in Mount Kisco. And we'll be at the Ramada in Newburgh twice in December.
| Subject: | November Update | | Posted: | 11/06/08 at 03:24PM |
The elections are over (mercifully!) and the Holiday's are almost upon us. We're getting into the partying spirit and hopefully you are as well! We'll be up to Monticello the weekend before Thanksgiving....all seven of us for that Friday, 11/21. Saturday, 11/29 the band will be playing a new venue....Teddy's at the Holiday Inn, Mount Kisco. If you haven't been there before it would be well worth your while to check it out. Great atmosphere and the dance floor should be full all night 'cause we'll be teaming-up with the "Singles Going Wild" groups. If your looking for an alternative to "the usual", this is the place to go! Our new song recordings are done and we should have 'em up on the site shortly. If you'd like a cd just ask us at any of our gigs! See you over the Holidays!
| Subject: | September Update | | Posted: | 10/02/08 at 02:21PM |
September was a busy (and fun!) month indeed. Congratulations to Ivan & Marisol Rovinsky on their wedding and thanks for allowing us to be a part of it! Also thanks to trumpeter Vito for filling in admirably for Clay. Two weeks later it was Holly and Jesse Sabia's turn to "tie-the-knot". Everyone (including the band!) seemed to have a great time in a wonderful setting at the Pawling Country Club. We're back at Barton Orchards this year. Thanks to drummer Lou Varuzzo for filling for Frank the last time. As of this writing we'll be there once more....Saturday, October 18th. And we'll be at the Lava Lounge, Monticello Raceway the weekend of October 3rd & 4th. It's taken awhile but our new song clips are just about ready to post. Hopefully you enjoy them as much as we do! See you on the dance floor!
| Subject: | August Update | | Posted: | 08/07/08 at 12:13PM |
A heartfelt thanks to a couple of wonderful musicians we had the opportunity to play with recently. Drummer Lou Varuzzo sat in for Frank a few weeks back and literally "didn't miss a beat". And last week it was singer Linda Shell who did a great job of subbing for Donna while she was away. The welcome mat is always out anytime you want to join us on-stage! The Monta Rosa Clam Bake in July was a rousing success. Weather was great.....food the same. An even bigger crowd this year then last. We'll be loosening our belts and looking forward to the Pig Roast in September! Our new studio recordings are almost completed. Hopefully we'll have them available on-line in a few weeks. Next up is the Ramada on Saturday, 8/16. And after that it's up to Monticello for the weekend of August 22nd - 23rd. Hope to see you on the dance floor!
| Subject: | June Update | | Posted: | 06/25/08 at 09:46PM |
On Sunday, June 8th Big Kahuna was honored to have been a part of The Colonial Terrace's "pre" Grand Re-opening party to celebrate their multi-million dollar renovations. Our thanks to Allen, Sheila and Leon for asking us to head the entertainment. And honorable mentions go out to Joe Visconti, John Booth, Adam & Michael Kinkel and Andy Tumalo for their work involved in the rebuilding. Big Kahuna looks forward to continuing the great working relationship we have with the Drogy's and wish them many years of continued success. Five days after we played at "The Terrace" we were back again to play for the "Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce's Annual Gala". Too many names to mention here except to thank Irene Amato & A.S.A.P. Mortgage Corporation for sponsoring the entertainment....us!! On Wednesday, 6/18 we were back in the studio to lay down some fresh tracks and we hope to have them online in a few weeks. We'll also have new cd's to pass out if you request them at any of our gigs. This past weekend we were also honored to have played at the wedding of Laura & Terry Shank in Ellenville. Our friends (and groupies) Joe & Sue Grabel were there as well. The weather held up, the bride looked beautiful (yes Terry, you looked handsome as well!), the food was excellent and everyone had a good time. What more could one ask for? We wish you all the best. We'll be at the Ramada Inn, Newburgh five times in the next six weeks so if you miss us one week, you can catch us the next. We'll have our "dynamic duo" horn section with us for a few of those gigs. Hope to see you then. Enjoy your Summer....Save gas!....Stay close to home and support your local bands....that's us!!!

Another Year and another West Point Math Department Annual Dinner! Thanks once again to Tom Meyer for inviting us to perform for the event. Our "old" friend Steve Horton joined us throughout the night on sax and guitar, sounding like he's a regular band member! And by popular request Bob Ronkese steped up to the mic to belt out "Wonderful Tonight" and "Pretty Woman" Thanks also to Loughran's caterers for their excellent food. Hope to see you all again next year!

It was our pleasure to play for the Lakeland Education Foundation's "Casino Night" Fundraiser held at the Holiday Inn this past Saturday, March 8th. We appreciated those who pulled themselves away from the gaming tables to join us on the dance floor right up to the end of the night! Congratulations to recipients Cornelia Lichodolik and Dr. Lois Krall and co-chairs Chris Wilson and Leon Drogy! And thanks to Chuck Neuman, president of the LEF. Also thanks to Jack, Alan and Leon of the Colonial Terrace and Carol and Rich of the Fishkill Holiday Inn for arranging the alternate site location and working with us during the evening. And a nod to the Colonial Terrace's bar staff, Mike & Joe. And least we forget: Linda & Mike. Richie & Patty. Pat & Terry. And Irene & Rodger and their daughters Kate & Lauren. We had a great time as well and hope to see you again next year!

New Years Eve at the Ramada in Newburgh was a blast (as it is every year) and we were happy to be the ones providing the music. We brought out our "big guns" Clay & Dan on trumpet and sax and the dance floor was full the whole night. Too many names to mention so an appreciative thanks to all who came out to hear us and make the night that much more special. Our next public gig is at the Monticello Raceway Friday, 2/8 and Saturday, 2/9 so if you have a few bucks left over from the holidays come on up, drop some quarters in the slots and dance the night away! After that we'll be playing for the WHUD radio Valentines Day Party at the Colonial Terrace in Courtlandt Manor on Thursday night, 2/14 (which coincidently happens to be Valentines Day!). Info can be obtained by calling the Colonial Terrace at 914-737-0400 or clicking on the WHUD link ( just to the left).
